This month’s concert brings on stage the Mombasa
based artist Nyota
Ndogo, with her taarab influenced pop
music, the Mwanzindika
Drummers from Taita Taveta county with their special healing and 'Exorcism' music using the kabunde and kengele drums, and the njuga (leg
rattles), the Nyenyezi
za kambe group from Rabai with their Kayamba music and dance and Nairobi Melody
with modern day taarab, a blend of classical traditions rooted in rich Swahili
poetry, local melodies and rhythmic beats.
