Boo-hoe, there are claims that he didn't hand in a request, but would Sir Alex have made such fraudulent claims if that wasn't the case?

 With regard to his age he would cost much less than the ₤80m transfer fee Real Madrid paid for him. This is not to say that he’s not as good as he was as he left Manchester. Hell no! He's waaaay better! But I believe a fee in the region of ₤60-70m would do seeing that he has refused to sign new contract at the Bernabeu.

They would both cost around ₤30m and would end up solving the 'mid-field problem' for Manchester United. For Alcantara however, this is a deal I expected to have been completed ages ago.

Yes, I know he's reported to want to join Bayern Munich. But would Borussia Dortmund turn down an offer in the region of ₤25-30m for a player they'd lose for free next summer? An accepted offer from united would have Lewandowski thinking too. I recall reading somewhere that he'd love to play in the premier league some day in the future. So you never know.
