Buckle up
Guys am about to take you on a trip down Memory lane as I review the
developments in the mobile industry that history has had the pleasure
(displeasure too) to experience.
I do remember back in the day
when my Dad bought his first phone (felt
like a chunk of wood in the pocket). It was a Siemens,I cannot remember the
exact model tho’ but I do remember that it had a red-yellow backlight and text
was only in Black. It didn’t give us the pleasure of changing themes when we
felt like and the ringtones weren’t that good either:all polyphonic. Imagining
that one day phones would have full HD capabilities with Pixel density higher
than some PC’s was all but a dream.
Snake Xenzia was todays Angry
Birds and Space Shuttle was todays Temple Run. I remember my first phone,a
Nokia 1110,I could operate it with my eyes closed, now try that with a Nokia Lumia
and tell me what happens.
We owe the emergence of the
current smartphones to competition. Though not so good to the manufacturer, it
is the best thing that could ever happen to consumers; One man’s trash…
Apple inc. was the first company
to create a smartphone after which other companies like Samsung copied the idea
and developed their own phones, better than their predecessors but still
couldn’t match the iPhone's brilliance. They weren’t entirely Touchphones per se but Pressphones. It was a milestone
tho'. Apple revolutionized the Smartphone market with it's iPhone, and soon
after Samsung and other companies would produce their gadgets to compete with
the iPhone.
In the technological market, there
are always two key players in the industry. Initially the smartphone market was
dominated by Blackberry and Apple(What's with this guys and fruits?...totally weird!)... Blackberry nearly collapsed and new entrants
like hTC came and conquered the market. hTC encountered its share of problems
and was overtaken by Samsung. For the past year couple of years Samsung and Apple have
been 'Head-to-Head' in the multi-billion dollar industry exhibiting competition
like never before. Nokia is now making its way to the table of 'Big Boys' with its new
brand of phones; The Lumia series. I gotta say, Lumia 920 is not only the
best Lumia, but the best phone created by the Tech giant-Nokia, and
according to me currently the best Smartphone in the market. Its operating system is way
stable than android, its transition super smooth with a friendly GUI(Graphical User Interface)GUIand some
amazing inbuilt apps like the people
app. It feels girlish in the hand, looks girlish due to its variety of skins,
unlike the iPhone which fells like an expensive heavy metal people app(an it surely
is). The Lumia runs on windows 8
platform which was voted by PCmag as the most user friendly mobile operating
system. It seems like the Lumia is the only Nokia phone 'Connecting People' (well
Motorolla is still saying Hello to itself)...Am not so good with cash but am
going to save for this one.Yea,It’s that Good!
But here’s the thing;the Tech
industry is like a Vicious cycle, one minute yo on top, after a blink yo
nowhere to be heard or seen.
Yea,that's how far we've come and we're not there yet!
hehehe...interesting stuff nowadays almst every1 has a story on hw they help their peroz operate their fons
